Biodiversity and Conservation

The management of Angel of the North Fishing Lakes and the surrounding farm land is not intended to promote a highly maintained and manicured environment but instead one where wildlife is encouraged to thrive and where further species will become established through the creation of new habitats.

The primary management objectives are to:

  • establish new planting and seeding areas
  • develop and maintain the site so that it conserves the natural beauty and fits into the surrounding landscape
  • maximise the wildlife and nature conservation potential of the site
  • maintain an optimum environment for fish within the lakes

We are maintaining current species lists (see Wildlife) and hope to publish accurate records of the ongoing conservation work to create and maintain habitats.

Angel of the North Fishing Lakes is also planning to run a variety of training courses relating to conservation and biodiversity.
