Coarse Fishing at Angel of the North Fishing Lakes

Coarse fishing is the branch of the sport involving the capture of most freshwater fish other than members of the trout and salmon family. Generally, coarse fish are caught for sport only and then returned alive to the water to grow larger.

Some coarse fish are streamlined in shape, their bodies adapted to living in fast flowing water. They include the large-mouthed chubb and the torpedo-shaped barbell. Slow-flowing rivers and still waters are the usual haunts of deep bodied fish such as common carp. Perch, a handsome species with distinctively striped flanks occur in most types of fresh water. Other examples of coarse fish are roach, bream and tench.

Coarse Fishing is available on either of the two larger lakes at Angel of the North Fishing Lakes: Bowes Carp Lake (Carp) or Lookout Lake (Mixed).

Please note the fishing rules and regulations.

At Angel of the North Fishing Lakes we also support Novice Fishing, Night Fishing and Disabled Fishing. See Matches for information on open matches and club fishing.
